Ramona Emerson

Ramona Emerson is a Navajo filmmaker and writer based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her debut novel Shutter introduced protagonist Rita Todacheene, a forensic photographer haunted by the ghosts of murder victims, and earned recognition from the Edgar Awards and the Hillerman Prize. Emerson brings to her fiction a documentary filmmaker’s eye for detail and a deep rootedness in Diné culture and the landscapes of the American Southwest.
