Per Espen Stoknes

Per Espen Stoknes is a Norwegian psychologist, economist, and author whose work focuses on the psychological dimensions of climate change communication and the transformation of economic systems toward sustainability. He is a Professor and Director of the Centre for Sustainability at BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo and a former member of the Norwegian Parliament, where he served on the Standing Committee on Energy and the Environment. Stoknes is the author of What We Think About When We Try Not To Think About Global Warming (2015), a widely cited examination of why people resist engaging with climate change even when they understand it intellectually, and of Money and Soul (2009). He is a co-author of Earth for All: A Survival Guide for Humanity, published by New Society Publishers in 2022 and winner of the Meridian Award for Philosophy, in which he brings his unique perspective on systems change, behavioral economics, and sustainability transitions to a collaborative blueprint for a just and livable world by 2050.
