Owen Gaffney
Owen Gaffney is a science journalist and sustainability analyst specializing in planetary boundaries, Earth system science, and climate communication. He is a Senior Researcher at the Stockholm Resilience Centre and a communications strategist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, where he works at the intersection of science, policy, and public engagement. Gaffney is a co-author of Earth for All: A Survival Guide for Humanity, published by New Society Publishers in 2022 and winner of the Meridian Award for Philosophy. The book, commissioned by the Club of Rome fifty years after its landmark Limits to Growth report, presents a systems-based roadmap for achieving a just and sustainable civilization by 2050. Gaffney has written for or been featured in Nature, Science, The Guardian, and numerous other outlets, and is widely regarded as one of the most effective communicators working at the nexus of climate science and global policy.
