Jorgen Randers

Jorgen Randers is a Norwegian scientist and professor emeritus of climate strategy at BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo. He is one of the original co-authors of The Limits to Growth (1972), the Club of Rome report that first brought systems modeling of civilizational sustainability to global public attention, and he co-authored its 2004 update, Limits to Growth: The 30-Year Update. Randers is the author of 2052: A Global Forecast for the Next Forty Years (2012), in which he argued that humanity would fail to act fast enough to avoid significant climate disruption. He is a co-author of Earth for All: A Survival Guide for Humanity, published by New Society Publishers in 2022 and winner of the Meridian Award for Philosophy, a work that revisits and extends the Limits to Growth project with updated models and a five-pronged program for achieving sustainability and justice. Randers brings to the collaboration five decades of experience in systems thinking, scenario planning, and the translation of complex modeling into public and policy discourse.
