Jayati Ghosh

Jayati Ghosh is one of the world’s foremost development economists, known for her work on globalization, labor markets, gender inequality, and the political economy of developing nations. She is a Professor of Economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a former Professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. Ghosh has served as an adviser to governments and international organizations across the Global South and was executive secretary of International Development Economics Associates (IDEAs). She is a co-author of Earth for All: A Survival Guide for Humanity, published by New Society Publishers in 2022 and winner of the Meridian Award for Philosophy, which presents a systems-based economic and ecological roadmap for a just and sustainable world. Ghosh is also the author and co-author of numerous books on macroeconomics and development policy, and her writing appears regularly in the international press, including The Guardian and Project Syndicate.
