Casey McQuiston

Casey McQuiston is an American author of romantic comedies whose debut novel Red, White and Royal Blue (2019) became one of the most celebrated and widely read queer romances of its generation. Born and raised in Louisiana, McQuiston worked in advertising and public relations before turning to fiction full time. Their debut arrived with almost no advance fanfare and quickly became a word-of-mouth phenomenon, praised for its wit, warmth, and the ease with which it centered a queer romance in a political comedy about the American presidency. The novel was adapted into a film by Amazon Prime Video in 2023. McQuiston followed it with One Last Stop (2021), a time-travel romance set in New York City, and I Kissed Shara Wheeler (2022), a Young Adult novel that earned further praise for its handling of sapphic romance in a Southern high school setting. McQuiston uses they/them pronouns and has spoken publicly about the importance of joyful, aspirational queer fiction.
