Mae Bunseng Taing

Mae Bunseng Taing is a Cambodian-Canadian writer and survivor of the Khmer Rouge genocide. Born in Cambodia, he was nine years old when the Khmer Rouge seized power in April 1975. He survived four years of forced labor, displacement, and the systematic destruction of Cambodian society before escaping through refugee camps in Thailand and eventually resettling in Canada. His memoir, Under the Naga Tail, published by Enfield and Wizenty in 2023, is a first-person account of his family’s survival during one of the twentieth century’s most devastating atrocities. The book received a 2023 Meridian Award.
